The 2016 ASMMIRT Student Conference Program will engage student delegates in two main ways, both of which fit neatly into the sub-theme of the conference: "Rise and Shine: the Future is Bright". By providing invited speakers who will give examples of their own 'Shining' practice, delegates will be able see for themselves the bright future that exists for them within the Radiation Therapy and Medical Imaging professions and just how much value they can provide to their patients. Student delegates will also be given 'permission to shine' by presenting their own work to their student peers in a comfortable, safe environment, an experience that will no doubt set them up to contribute at future ASMMIRT conferences.
Plan for the day
The 2016 AIR Student Conference will be held on Friday 22 April. Student delegates will begin their day alongside general registrants at the ASMMIRT 2016 Opening Ceremony and Opening Plenary sessions.
After morning tea, the Student Conference will begin with an invited speaker (TBC) that will engage both Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy students.
For the remainder of the day, separate Radiation Therapy and Medical Imaging sessions will be held, featuring a combination of invited speakers and proffered papers.
The two streams will re-unite for the final hour of the conference, where a panel consisting of Radiographers and Radiation Therapists from around the country will discuss a number of questions pertinent to the future of the professions. Student delegates will be encouraged to pose questions via Twitter throughout the student conference, and these will form the basis of this Panel discussion.
