In 2016, student involvement in ASMMIRT will extend from 1 day to 2, with the introduction of an Early Careers Forum, to be held on Saturday 23 April.
Acknowledging the importance of creating good habits at the beginning of our careers, this event will feature a number of expert speakers, presenting on topics as diverse as resume writing, interview preparation and core stability.
The Early Careers Forum will be an inclusion for all students who register for the Saturday at ASMMIRT 2016.
Georgia Baker - Work the World/Healthcare placement abroad
Georgia holds a Master's degree in International Studies from the University of Queensland. Previously she has worked in the International Office for the University of Queensland, School of Medicine managing international partnerships and coordinating overseas clinical placements. Currently, she is the primary student consultant for Australia and New Zealand Healthcare placements with Work The World.
Around the globe, healthcare students and young professionals have become passionate advocates in the fight towards achieving healthcare for all. Adam Steward - CV and Interview Preparation
Adam graduated RMIT University with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Medical Radiations in 1995, undertaking his internship with Western Health in that year, rotating to The Geelong Hospital and Warrnambool District Hospital. He has been employed with Western Health ever for twenty years undertaking a number of supervisory roles in multiple modalities. He has been the Tutor Radiographer for the past 7 years and an integral member of the first year program at RMIT University for 8 years, also sharing his time as the primary carer to his 3 young boys. Adam has a passion for clinical education and conventional radiography.
Shane Bensted - Investment and Finances
Shane has 14 years' experience in the financial service industry including roles with Macquarie Bank, HFA Asset management and Perennial Investment Partners.
He is passionate about providing holistic wealth management advice and helping clients achieve their goals with Investment and Retirement Planning, Superannuation, Life Insurance and Personal Risk management and Estate Planning.
He is an experienced presenter and enjoys helping people understand investment and wealth creation concepts.
Andrew Johnston – Core Stability
Andrew is a physiotherapist with 11 years experience. He graduated from the University of Queensland in 2003 and is currently studying his musculoskeletal masters at the La Trobe University in Melbourne. He is currently completing research in shoulder dislocations. Andrew previously has worked in private practice in musculoskeletal physiotherapy providing injury assessment and rehabilitation as well as working with sporting teams including Queensland Soccer at the nationals providing on field care. He has also worked for the NHS in outpatients and orthopaedic inpatient setting.
Andrew has worked at the PAH for since 2010, for the last three worked as a primary contact physiotherapist in the emergency department at the PAH and has a strong working relationship with the radiology department at the PAH. Andrew has an interest in acute injury management as well as injury prevention.
