This Thursday evening micro event provides delegates with a unique opportunity to visit a world-class research facility which houses the southern hemisphere’s first 7T whole body MRI scanner. Located on the University of Queensland campus, the Centre for Advanced Imaging brings together the skills of a critical mass of researchers and “state of the art” research imaging instruments.
The micro event will start just before sunset with a picturesque city cat ride along the Brisbane River from Southbank to the University of Queensland. While on campus, delegates will be taken on a guided tour of the facility, highlighted by the diverse range of advanced imaging modalities. These include three whole body scanners, high resolution NMR spectrometers and micro-imaging and animal imaging systems.
Delegates will also have the opportunity to listen to a series of presentations, which will outline the current research programs being conducted at CAI. Dinner and drinks are provided.
The return journey along the Brisbane River, back to Southbank, provides a perfect contrast to the outward trip, with the night-lights of Brisbane city on full display.

This Thursday evening micro event provides delegates with an opportunity to visit a learning environment equipped with the latest simulation for Medical Imaging, Radiation Therapy and Ultrasound. The Medical Radiation Sciences (MRS) facility brings together a range of vendor equipment in a state of the art learning environment for undergraduate students. The laboratory consists of general radiography including mobile imaging, OPG and Mammography as well as simulation for CT imaging, trauma imaging and Ultrasound. The Radiation Therapy facility includes access to VERT and the latest treatment planning software.
After a short stroll from the Convention centre through the Southbank Parklands and across The Goodwill Bridge, you will arrive at the QUT Gardens Point Campus. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the QUT facilities including the award winning Cube in the Science and Engineering precinct. The Cube is one of the world‘s largest interactive digital display systems, and offers unprecedented learning and research opportunities. A short walk through the gardens of the historic Old Government House, the original home of the lamington, and you will be able to explore Medical Radiation Sciences Simulation Facility. After inspecting the Facility and the latest in social learning spaces, join the MRS teaching team for light refreshments.

After proving so successful in previous ASMMIRT conferences, we will be holding an exhibition welcome cocktail function on Friday evening of day 1 of the conference. This is the perfect chance to catch up with other conference attendees in a relaxed social environment after the first day‘s technical sessions have come to a close.

Straight after the Exhibition Welcome we will be hosting a cocktail function at one of Australia’s most cutting edge venues. This will truly be an event to remember in surroundings you will never forget. More information will be announced on the Friday night cocktail function soon.

Saturday night presents the fantastic Gala Dinner at the magnificently refurbished Brisbane City Hall. We encourage you to engage in the ‘Casablanca’ theme forthe evening and don your best formal attire. Meeting up at King George Square offers you the opportunity to swoon over the marvellous architecture of the City
Hall and its iconic Clock Tower as you enjoy some novel entertainment opportunities.
Prepare for the paparazzi as you swan down the red carpet into the wonderful grand auditorium to be entertained by a fantastic 22-piece band. Dance the night away or stroll through to the Hamilton Room where you can enjoy some time-out and partake of even more unique entertainment opportunities, so “here’s looking at you kid!”
