ASMIRT-NZMIRT organisers have confirmed three expert speakers for the 2025 conference.
Professor Anita Mahajan, Radiation Oncologist and Medical Director of Particle Therapy at Mayo Clinic, Minnesota USA will bring us the latest in particle therapy news. Day to day, Dr. Mahajan oversees the proton beam therapy facility's daily operation. She is also working on the new Proton Expansion project in Rochester.
A Fellow in proton therapy...
After completing medical school and residency in Canada, Dr. Mahajan undertook fellowship in proton therapy at the Massachusetts General Hospital. She has expertise in treating pediatric cancer and adult patients with CNS tumors. Her research interests are improving outcomes, reducing toxicities for patients with the use of technology such as proton therapy, and biologic planning within a multidisciplinary care environment.
Dr. Nick Woznitza MBE, Consultant Radiographer and Clinical Academic, University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, will speak to AZMIRT-NZIMRT about image interpretation and radiographic applications of AI. Some attendees will remember Dr. Woznitza from our 2019 and 2015 conferences.

Dr. Woznitza's work is focused on enhancing and expanding the role of radiographers including radiographer reporting, advanced practice, and artificial intelligence. Dr. Woznitza is an accredited consultant practitioner with the College of Radiographers and advanced practitioner with ASMIRT. He was the overall winner at the 2017 Chief Allied Health Professions Officer awards and was awarded an MBE (Member Of The Order of British Empire) in the Queen's 2022 New Year’s Honours list for services to radiography.
Professor Suresh de Silva, Chairman and Co-founder of Radiology Across Borders, will speak to ASMIRT-NZIMRT about the important work Radiology Across Borders is undertaking in the Asia-Pacific region.
An expert in clinical trials...
Dr. De Silva is a radiologist and a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists with subspecialty interests in oncological, urogenital, and gastrointestinal radiology and body and pelvic MRI. He has a Conjoint Lecturer appointment at UNSW and is committed to clinical and radiological research, having completed a post-graduate degree in clinical trials research at the University of Sydney. He has published in peer reviewed journals in the areas of urological/oncological work and has a special interest in radiological and clinical trials research.
Dr. De Silva is passionate about philanthropy and believes good education and health infrastructure should be available to all.
