Sophie completed her PhD in 2021 at Flinders University, receiving the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Doctoral Thesis Excellence and the College of Science and Engineering Award for Best Student Publication. Her experience ranges from micro-CT scanning human limbs and orthopaedic implants, to fossils and batteries for research and industry. Her research explores bone-microarchitecture and lower limb biomechanics, through micro-CT image analysis combined with mechanical loading and digital volume correlation, for tracking the deformations and strains of the scanned specimens under load.
