WHAT IS NATIONAL RADIOGRAPHERS AND RADIATION THERAPISTS\u2019 WEEK?<\/h2>\n

National Radiographers and Radiation Therapists\u2019 Week (NRRTW) is an initiative by the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (ASMIRT). ASMIRT is the peak body representing medical radiation practitioners in Australia. NRRTW encompasses World Radiography Day on November 8 \u2013 initiated by the International Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists (ISRRT).

WHY IS NOVEMBER 8 WORLD RADIOGRAPHY DAY?<\/h2>\n

On the evening of November 8, 1895, Wilhelm Conrad R\u00f6ntgen discovered the possibility of using electromagnetic radiation to create what we now know as the X-ray. This achievement was awarded with the first Nobel Prize for Physics in 1901. The X-ray is an integral tool for medical professionals.

This year\u2019s theme is Medical Radiation Practitioners – An essential part of your health journey.<\/em><\/p>\n

Second only to pathology, imaging is the most widely requested diagnostic tool in medicine.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s theme seeks to focus people\u2019s thoughts on medical radiation sciences as an intrinsic component of the health system. The materials available offer support to spreading that message to health professionals and patients.
