A GUIDE TO PROMOTING YOUR PROFESSION

How to… Reach out to your patients

NRRTW is a great opportunity to start a conversation about the profession with patients.

Self-promotion may not come naturally, but it is important for our professions. Openness about our role provides patients with comfort and it gains their trust and respect. Most patients won’t understand the breadth of our professions’ skills.

Add the NRRTW posters to your waiting room, they are good conversation starters. Ask if the person you are seeing has any questions about what you do.

To most what you do is a mystery, so even a little insight goes a long way.

HOW TO… CELEBRATE YOUR CO-WORKERS

NRRTW is a great week to profile staff achievements of – if you are in a large organisation, maybe talk to the Communications Team about whether they can profile MRPs on social media during NRRTW. Try and get in early, as these things can take a couple of weeks to organise.

HOW TO… CREATE VISUAL DISPLAYS

Display NRRTW promotional materials in high-traffic areas in your workplace such as entrances, elevators, cafeteria, lounges and waiting rooms leading up to NRRTW.

Maybe set up an area with something amusing, like a skeleton, and create a backdrop for people to take selfies.
