This interactive workshop aims to equip early career radiographers, students and any radiographer looking to refresh with essential knowledge on how computed tomography (CT) parameters affect image quality (IQ). Advances in technology have potentially contributed to a lack of deep understanding of scan parameters and their effects when altered. Through practical, hands-on activities, participants will explore key parameters and the changes in IQ when adjusting these parameters. This knowledge enhances the participant’s ability to perform optimisation and provides a deeper understanding of the technical and clinical implications of CT imaging in daily practice.
Learning outcomes:
- Identify the key CT parameters (e.g., kVp, mAs, slice thickness) and their impact on image quality.
- Analyse how changes in CT parameters can affect patient dose, image quality, and diagnostic outcomes.
- Apply knowledge of CT parameters to optimise image quality in various clinical scenarios.
