Angiography and interventional procedures are associated with some of the highest levels of radiation exposure in medical imaging, impacting both patients and healthcare staff. We can find opportunities for improvement by analysing procedure radiation dose reports. This workshop invites participants to bring their own examination dose reports, and will guide participants through a structured process to gain a deeper understanding of the factors contributing to high radiation doses. By exploring common sources of excessive exposure, participants will develop practical strategies for dose optimisation and enhancing patient and staff safety.
Learning outcomes:
- Radiation Dose Report Analysis: Gain expertise in interpreting patient examination dose reports, enabling the identification of factors that contribute to excessive exposure.
- Benchmarking Against Reference Values: Learn how to compare audited radiation doses with established normal values to pinpoint areas of concern and assess the effectiveness of current practices.
- Practical Strategies for Dose Reduction: Learn to optimise radiation doses through adjustments in imaging protocols, equipment settings and procedural techniques.
