Artificial Intelligence in Rad-AI-tion Therapy: Bridging the Gap between Theory and Practice

This workshop is designed to equip participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical insights into the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in radiation therapy (RT). Led by local and international AI experts, the program will feature real-world case studies showcasing the clinical use of AI in RT settings. Key topics will include the evolving role of AI in RT practice, its implications for education and workforce development, safe implementation strategies, quality assurance, and governance frameworks. Participants will explore how AI can enhance workflow efficiency, enable automation, and drive innovation in RT. The workshop will feature interactive, case-based discussions, Q&A sessions, and provide actionable knowledge to support and improve the everyday practice of Radiation Therapists.

  • Describe key AI concepts and tools used in radiation therapy, including AI-supported planning and auto-contouring systems. 
  • Apply AI decision-support tools in daily clinical workflows, such as scoring matrices and algorithm-assisted treatment planning. 
  • Analyse the benefits and challenges of AI in improving patient care and treatment outcomes. 
  • Evaluate the integration of AI into adaptive radiation therapy and its impact on treatment efficiency and accuracy.
