General Information

ASMMIRT 2017

Perth Airport is a modern facility approximately half an hour away from the centre of Perth. The international and domestic terminals are easily accessible by car, taxi and bus.

Passport and Visa information

All visitors to Australia must have a valid visa to travel to and enter Australia. Welcome letters can be requested from conferences@asmirt.org  following completion of conference registration. Taxis

Taxis are available from both the domestic and international terminals. A taxi trip from the airport terminals to Perth city centre will take around 30 minutes, or 15-20 minutes directly to Crown Perth. The journey will cost approximately AUD$40.00 – AUD$50.00, or $30 to Crown Perth . All taxis are meter operated by time and distance, and operate twenty four hours a day. Taxis indicate they are vacant by illuminating their sign on the roof. At both airport terminals available taxis will wait at the taxi rank.

Buses

An airport shuttle operates to and from domestic and international airports with convenient pick up points located near accommodation throughout Perth, including Crown. For further details click here.

Trains

The closest train station is Burswood Train Station, which is 10 minutes walk from Crown Perth. A free shuttle bus goes between Crown and the train station every 10-15 minutes. For further details click here.

Car Parking

At Crown there is free parking for over 3000 vehicles. Undercover carparking is also availabe onsite for a fee of $15 per day. For more details on Crown parking visit click here.

Climate and Clothing

Perth has a mediterranean climate and is located in one of only five mediterranean climate zones in the world. This means that for most of the year, the weather is fine and sunny, and even during the short mild winter the sun is often shining.

The general dress for the conference is smary / casual.  A light jacket is recommended for evenings. Please refer to the information on the social program for dress at social functions organised as part of the conference, as some of these may require formal evening dress.
