Thursday evening micro-events - UQ Centre for Advanced Imaging visit

Thursday 21 April

Time: 4:30pm – 8:30pm

Location: Southbank, Brisbane & University of Queensland. Registrants to meet at Southbank ferry terminal (4:30pm)

Cost: $33 (to cover return citycat travel, light dinner and administration costs)

This Thursday evening micro event provides delegates with a unique opportunity to visit a world-class research facility which houses the southern hemisphere’s first 7T whole body MRI scanner. Located on the University of Queensland campus, the Centre for Advanced Imaging brings together the skills of a critical mass of researchers and “state of the art” research imaging instruments.

The micro event will start just before sunset with a picturesque city cat ride along the Brisbane River from Southbank to the University of Queensland. While on campus, delegates will be taken on a guided tour of the facility, highlighted by the diverse range of advanced imaging modalities. These include three whole body scanners, high resolution NMR spectrometers and micro-imaging and animal imaging systems.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to listen to a series of presentations, which will outline the current research programs being conducted at CAI. Dinner and drinks are provided.

The return journey along the Brisbane River, back to Southbank, provides a perfect contrast to the outward trip, with the night-lights of Brisbane city on full display.
